Description

Treasury Solicitor and HM Procurator General registered files in the T & M series dealing with questions submitted by the Treasury and miscellaneous departments not generally covered by more specialized series of files and consisting mostly of files from the period 1891-1937. The departments concerned include the Colonial Office, Foreign Office Home Office and Metropolitan Police, General Register Office, Public Record Office, Public Trustee Office, the Registrar of Friendly Societies, and the national museums and galleries. There are also a few files relating to Air Ministry and Royal Air Force matters, peerage files and war crime papers.

The papers of the Treasury Solicitor's Office were divided in the early years of the twentieth century into a number of registered file series dealing with particular functions of the department and with particular departments or functions of central government.
