Description | Selected registered files from the Treasury Solicitor's Treasury and Miscellaneous (T & M) series. The files were registered in an annual series from 1955. The T & M series dealt with questions submitted by the Treasury and other departments not generally covered by more specialised series of files. The files cover a variety of topics including the Bank Rate Tribunal of 1957-1958, and inquiries into the aircraft crash at Ndola, Rhodesia, in which Dag Hammarskjöld (the Secretary General of the United Nations) was killed, the Aberfan disaster, allegations of cruelty by prison officers at Walton Jail, Liverpool, offences under the Official Secrets Act committed by John Vassall, evidence given in the murder trial of Timothy Evans and Reginald Christie, and the collapse of flats at Ronan Point in 1967. |
