Description

Original correspondence of the Ordnance Office, which, except for a small section of miscellaneous letters, is almost entirely of nineteenth century date. The series also contains a small amount of War Office correspondence after the dissolution of the Ordnance Office in 1855 and the proceedings of the Royal Military Canal Commissioners.

Arrangement

The series is arranged in four broad categories: places (WO 44/1-497), offices (WO 44/498-531), subjects (WO 44/532-713) and miscellaneous (WO 44/714-732).
