Description

This series consists of records of the Chief Passenger Manager within the Traffic Department until 1969, the Executive Director, Passenger until September 1970 and the Chief Passenger Marketing Manager until 1979 and afterwards of the Passenger Manager (Marketing). Files relate to marketing policy and strategy including national travel incentive schemes, national ticketing and pricing, and national and regional surveys affecting policy.

Administrative/ biographical background

The Chief Passenger Manager was within the Traffic Department until 1969 when the post became Executive Director, Passenger until September 1970 and then Chief Passenger Marketing Manager until 1979. The functions were then scattered to other departments, the Passenger Manager (Marketing) retaining responsibility for sales, terminal services and some computer systems.
