Description

Minutes of the Joint Intelligence Committee (A) until 30 September 1974 and then the Joint Intelligence Committee.

Arrangement

Although the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) became the Joint Intelligence Committee (A) (JIC(A)) effective 1 April 1968, the symbol 'JIC(A)' was not taken into use on the minutes until the beginning of 1969. The reversion of JIC(A) to the JIC designation effective 1 October 1974 was reflected in an immediate readoption of the 'JIC' symbol.

Administrative/ biographical background

At the end of 1968 the Joint Intelligence Committee was redesignated as JIC (A), and the former Economic Intelligence Steering Committee of the Cabinet (records at CAB 134/2732-2735) was redesignated as JIC (B).
