Description | An incomplete set of circulars issued by the Department of Health and Social Security (DHSS). The circulars were issued by the DHSS to the various bodies incorporated in the National Health Service (NHS), such as Boards of Governors (Provincial and Teaching Hospitals), Regional Hospital Boards, Hospital Management Committees, Chief Medical Officers, Principal Regional Officers, Local Authorities, Local Health Authorities, the DHSS Hospitals Division, and the DHSS Supplies Division. The circulars cover a wide variety of subjects, most of them concerned with the NHS, ranging from the building of hospitals to the day-to-day administration of them. The series includes a set of circulars relating to the reorganisation of the NHS, which was effective from 1 April 1974. |
