Title | Board of Trade: Tariff Division: Files |
Date | 1936-1972 |
Description | Files of the Tariff Division relating to various international agreements. The files concern the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, negotiations over the creation of the European Free Trade Area, preference agreements with Commonwealth countries, and the administration of anti-dumping legislation. Apart from general policy on tariffs and duties, the series also contains material on steps taken to protect British agriculture and the jute and dyestuffs industries. The Tariff Division's files include a proportion of papers mainly dating from 1950, inherited from its predecessors. When the name of the Division was changed to the Tariff and Import Policy Division started a new registered file cycle with the prefix 'TIP' some of which are in this series but most are in BT 303 |
