This series contains of original correspondence relating to Western Australia (formerly the Swan River settlement). After 1873 copies of out-letters are included.

Administrative/ biographical background

In 1828 Western Australia became a British settlement (originally known as the Swan River settlement) and in 1901 it became a state of the new Commonwealth of Australia.
