Description | SUFFRAGETTES: Amnesty of August 1914: index of people arrested, 1906-1914. The official watchlist contains details of over 1,300 arrests of suffragettes and their supporters and lists the names of those arrested for the cause (both women and men), along with the places and number of times they were arrested. Some names have no arrests listed against them. The record also includes Home Office papers concerning a deputation of suffragettes to the Home Secretary after the announcement of the amnesty and discussions of the administration of the amnesty itself. NOTE: In October 2015, this document was made searchable online by Ancestry, in association with The National Archives: England, Suffragettes Arrested, 1906-1914. |
