Description | This series contains a set of slides which were nearly all taken at the collieries of the former Barber Walker and Co (mostly at Moorgreen and Brinsley) around Eastwood, Nottinghamshire between 1907 and 1914. The slides were taken by the Rev F W Cobb, Rector of Eastwood, Nottinghamshire from 1907 to 1917. The set is entitled From Pit to Fireplace and would appear to have been used to illustrate a talk on the history of coal mining. COAL 13/116 consists of a complete album of contact prints, prepared from the original slides for viewing. Copies of the slides are also available from The National Archives' Image Library. |
