Title | Exchequer: King's Remembrancer: Forest Records |
Date | 1182-1653 |
Description | The basis of this series is the collection of forest records derived from the Ancient Miscellanea which accumulated in the office of the King's Remembrancer of the Exchequer. The series includes some records of forest eyres, including two 13th-century estreat rolls, and rolls of forest attachment and swanimote courts handed in to forest eyres. There is a notable collection of records relating to Savernake forest in Wiltshire. The series also includes various forest inquisitions returned into the Exchequer, and some forest claims submitted to the trustees for the deafforestation, sale and improvement of the forest and forest lands, appointed in 1653. Court rolls of the manor of Edwinstowe, Notts, 1308 to 1341, are also included, but they are not forest records and are misplaced. |
