Description | This series contains assignation books (series II) of the Instance Court. The books contain brief notes of the instance proceedings of the court at each session, and relate to such matters as commercial disputes, collision, pilotage, salvage, wages, etc. Formal adjournments of oyer and terminer sessions, dealing with the court's criminal jurisdiction, are also recorded in them, but not the actual proceedings. From 1783 there is generally an index of ships at the end of each volume; volumes 18-58 contain their own index of ships. |
