Description | This series consists of a variety of documents left behind after the transfer of the bulk of E 370 as an emergency measure in 1995 to a new series, E 389 It now contains some of the earliest known Exchequer documents, which were not identified during the 19th-century sorting of the records of the Pipe Office, the Lord Treasurer's Remembrancer and the Exchequer of Receipt. They remained in this miscellaneous series after the great enrolled series of accounts rolls and receipt and issue rolls were listed. They include early receipt rolls, and memoranda rolls; estreats rolls; nomina villarum rolls; foreign accounts rolls; originalia rolls; exannual rolls; escheator's accounts rolls; rolls of sergeanties; and other documents relating to sheriffs and royal officials. Two rolls should properly belong in E 363 Another two belong in E 368 and a further two in E 159. |
